Our Story

In March 2010 CleanStart was launched in partnership with Simpson Society with the goal of providing junk and rubbish removal in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, but since then has grown to become an award winning social enterprise.

How We Started

In 2009, our founder, Dylan Goggs spent six months volunteering with local community groups and non-profits in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. After volunteering with local residents, he realized that many of the residents were able and willing to work; they just needed the right opportunity for employment.

It was from these experiences that CleanStart’s social mandate was born. CleanStart was officially launched in March of 2010 with one small pick-up truck and two employees from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Although our operations have greatly expanded since 2010, our original mission to provide training and employment opportunities to those facing barriers has remained at our core.

CleanStart Today

Today, CleanStart Property Services is now the go-to service provider for many non-profit housing groups, property management companies, construction companies and residential clients.

We are proud to have provided stable and compassionate work to more than 100 people since 2010, and currently have over 30 employees that operate across Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. CleanStart continues to help pioneer social procurement contracts and works closely with organizations such as BC Housing, Atira Women’s Resource Society, and Vancouver Coastal Health.
